Our Story

Hi! I'm Natalie, the founder of Mums Bakehouse. After receiving a Celiac diagnosis at the age of 6, I started my gluten-free journey. When I first went gluten-free, there weren't many (if any) gf cookie options at my local stores and bakeries. Disappointed, I began to teach myself to bake with gluten-free flour. Many, many failed baking experiments later, I found a way to make my favorite family cookie recipes gluten-free. For years, I have been the designated ‘gluten-free baker’ and the "go-to" for everything gluten-free amongst my family and friends. 

While there are now more gluten-free products readily available, I still felt like there is something missing. I recently had to go dairy-free in addition to being gluten-free and I had to yet again, rework my eating habits. Standing in the gluten-free aisle of the grocery store, I could only find one or two options that were gluten-free and dairy-free and it struck me how few options there were for people with more than one dietary restriction. I went home and immediately started reworking my gf cookie recipes to be as allergy friendly as possible. After much prompting from family and friends, I decided to take a leap of faith and start Mums Bakehouse in 2024.

Our mission at Mums Bakehouse is to make gluten-free cookies you are excited to eat. We want our cookie dough and cookies to win the hearts of both people who are gluten-free or have dietary restrictions and those without any dietary limitations. Our commitment lies in delivering exceptional taste, convenience, and a variety of flavors, making gluten-free cookies accessible to everyone.

A big thing that I always missed after going gluten-free was the ability to choose between a variety of flavors. So often, there is one, maybe two gluten-free options available and it's usually a brownie or chocolate chip cookie. My goal with Mums Bakehouse is to give back the power of choice for those of us with dietary restrictions. With 6 flavors of cookies and 7 flavors of edible cookie dough, there is something for everyone. And if that isn't good enough, we also do a rotating cookie flavor each month! :)

Some of my earliest memories are in the kitchen with my mum, and two older brothers :) 

Being gluten-free my whole life has given me a deep understanding of how hard it can be to find trustworthy and yummy cookies if you have any allergies. Thus, in addition to being a fully gluten-free company, Mums caters to other dietary needs including vegan, egg-free, soy-free, and nut-free.
